Great WordPress Plug-ins For Your Site

by Author on 27/06/2010

A lot of internet marketers assume that WordPress is meant only for bloggers to use. Ok… WordPress can be used in the same way as a static marketing sites, so it’s not just for “blogs.” WordPress, as you may or may know, is what is called a Content Management System (CMS) which offers great flexibility with applications, etc. What’s really great about this are all the plugins that are always being developed, and you can get your blog/site to do just about anything you want. Here are some excellent plugins for IM marketers, and you should at least evaluate them for your business.

No question about the value of social bookmarking, and you’ll find the plugin ShareThis to be great in that area. It will put a link box at the bottom, or end, of your posts or pages. The link box expands when hovered over, and the visitor can choose whichever social bookmarking/networking website they want to submit your site to for others to see. So, they can easily submit to very popular sites like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and even chatting apps like AOL IM. This encourages site visitors to tell others about what they have found on your site!

You probably can easily figure out what the Similar Posts plugin does. But what it actually does is put a link at the end of your posts to other posts on your site that are related. Ok, so it’s pretty obvious why this is a good idea; it will try to interest your visitors in other posts, etc. This kind of strategy is an excellent approach to keep them engaged. You never want to do something to destroy their natural curiosity.

This plugin, SEO Smart Links, will SEO your links so the search engines will like them. The search engines need to know the phrases you want to rank for, so this plugin will tell them for you. Then the plugin will find the instances of those phrases and create links to the same words on other pages. You can set it to link to any posts, tagged words, categories, or pages. As you have read, or maybe already know, WordPress has great flexiblity especially with the use of plugins. And the best part? Free.

It’s totally free for you to use. So go ahead and do all the customization you want, you’ll never have to pay for it. If you want to change your theme, or add any number of plugins, or you can alter the code – if you know how, you can do it. You can do this without being a programmer or web designer, and there’s no previous experience required.
