It’s easier to make repeat sales to your existing customers when compared to getting new ones. When you have your own email list it’s easier to drive back traffic to your site or anywhere you want. You should think of your mailing list as being the biggest business asset you have.
The people on your list are there for a reason. Those people feel a level of trust in you for emailing them information they wanted to know more about. So you not only have to work on building your email list but also on creating a relationship with it. When you can earn their trust, you have a far greater chance of success.
There are plenty of ways to build a good list. You might ask previous customers to join up, ask people to subscribe to a newsletter or add people who only joined to download a free bonus from you. However you choose to build your list, you should remember not to buy a ready-made list. A list you build yourself will have people on it who are willing to receive messages from you. If you have a general list with just anybody on it, your efforts are diluted.
The second mistake that Internet marketers make is they don’t think out of the box when marketing products online. Having the ability to stand-out from all the rest will be something you can use to your great advantage. All markets on the web have a lot of competition, and if you can stand out – and have a good product, etc, then it will help. You’ll notice that so many other online businesses are a bit lazy, and they basically refuse to do more.
You’d be surprised at the numbers who just copy what others do and nothing more. So never be afraid to put your own stamp on what you do in your business. Be unique and develop your own products instead of using PLR, or Master Resale Rights material. You would be surprised at how easy it can be to create your own products.

Never lose focus of what needs to be done in your marketing. After all work, and your site is ready to go, then start hitting the marketing hard and never let up. Keep perspective because that’s the stage where marketers get frustrated – when things don’t happen fast enough. It’s strange because people will give up too early on something, but then they quickly start something else.
Whatever marketing strategy you’re focusing on, be it SEO or be it social media marketing, if you don’t know how to be consistent, it would simply mean that you’re not putting in the effort.
Now that you’ve read about them, you’ll want to do all you can to avoid them. It’s not terribly difficult to succeed to some degree in IM, but you need to always keep learning and try to avoid the silly mistakes.
